D8 PROJECTS

A sample of previous District Eight Mission Projects......

Almost 300 "Buckets of Hope" filled with Food
were prepared and shipped to Haiti

Noble Church among those bringing "Buckets" to Missions Office  All Buckets were Labeled as being given by Southern Baptists

First Load of 150 Buckets headed to Shreveport  Second Load of 147 Buckets headed to Shreveport

Unloading at Omni Shipping in Shreveport.  We appreciated the help of the Omni employees in stacking them on Shipping Pallets.  Unloading the Second Day was done by Lee and Barbara.  All
Omni employees were busy loading Freight Trucks.

1.      Helping with several projects at  the Clara Springs  Baptist Camp, the District Eight Baptist Convention owned camp, located on Hwy 177 in the Wallace Community, between Interstate 49 and Pleasant Hill.   People are faithful to help get the facilities ready for hundreds of Boys and Girls who come to Camp each summer, and they continue to help in preparation for many others who come for Weekend Retreats during other times of the year.   Thanks for your personal labors and financial help that made all of this possible.

Please call Bro. Jack Mills III, Camp Manager (318-796-3875), for details on how you can help with the many ongoing projects at the camp.

2.     A number of you helped to remodel homes in the New Orleans Lower 9th Ward, and some helped to build a fence around the Baptist International Seaman's (Global Maritime Ministries) Center property in New Orleans.  This is a ministry to hundreds of ship crews who come into the Port of New Orleans from all over the world.    Mrs. Ginger McBride, DeSoto Associational Treasurer, served as Project Coordinator for District Eight.

3.       A number of people helped remodel an old "night club" building that is now being used as a Southern Baptist Mission Church in Bradshaw, West Virginia.    Bro. Wayne Hicks, Pastor of Grand Ecore Road Baptist Church in Natchitoches (318-663-6325) was the Project Coordinator.

4.      And there have been numerous other projects that we do not have pictures........and more are in the planning stages...........stay tuned.

THANKS for your assistance and support of all District Eight Mission Projects.  There will be more in the coming months, some will be local, and others further away, as we seek to continue carrying out the Acts 1:8 Missions Challenge to be "witnesses of JESUS in (our) Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
